Simon Watson, a native of Dublin, moved to New York thirty-seven years ago to pursue a career in the visual arts. Although he studied film, he experimented with other forms of art including painting before concentrating on photography. Since the early 1990s his work has appeared regularly in magazines, editorial publications and advertising campaigns world-wide.

His work has been included in solo and group exhibitions in New York and Europe, including solo shows at the celebrated Richard Anderson Gallery in New York, Kevin Kavanagh Gallery in Dublin and the Auschwitz Museum in Poland. His work is included in museum, public, private and corporate collections in the US and Europe. Watson has also exhibited his paintings, most recently at Galerie Rideau de Fer in Luzech, France.

Since 2020, Watson has published five books:
"The Lives of Others” (Rizzoli, 2020), a major monograph representing a survey of his work over the previous thirty years of his career.
"Portrait of a House” (Dürer Editions, 2021).
"Afternoon at Palazzo Altemps" (Dürer Editions, 2022).
"Can Lis, Jørn Utzon" (Apartamento, 2025).
"Other Lives, Other Stories" (Rizzoli, 2026), a second-part follow-up to "The Lives of Others" (Rizzoli, 2020).
